They merely come from another planet in the solar system, same as elves. Psionics are cannon in the core Pathfinder setting. You can find the updated Psion/Soulknife/Cryptic in my Houserules. Yeah, we can always say that Psychic occult stuff is powered by echoes of the past and ley lines, while Psionics are powered from will alone. We are working on a set of updated Psionics rules and in the spirit of the Open Playtest Paizo did for Pathfinder we are starting with asking YOU the fans - what would YOU want Our intention is to update the Psionics rules with errata and changes to balance some of. Once a psionic character has learned this pathway of psionics, it often becomes a path they cannot help themselves from further exploring. A psionic character has learned to tap into and utilize this internal energy, using it to expand their abilities or even to learn more about themselves. D&D 3.5 psionics due to its wording of powers such as 'grease, psionic' or 'identify, psionic' comes off as arcane magic with different wrapping. Psionic Meditation turns it into a move action that still provokes. Normal: Regaining your psionic focus is normally a full-round action that provokes. This still provokes an attack of opportunity. While all characters have the capacity to harness this power of the mind, it is only by tapping into this potential that psionic characters are created. Pathfinder psionics have a reputation for being of a higher quality. It is the act of using the mental power innate in a psionic character to perform actions that others deem impossible.
